Winners of the “2008 Innovation Technology” Award

The project “Eye Mouse – A Project for a Better Life Quality” developed by Nicolás Amaro and Nicolás Ponieman (6th-year students) from the ICT track, ORT Technical School, Belgrano campus, got the 1st prize at the “2008 Innovation Technology” contest organized by the Argentine-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Other projects have also participated (after passing different evaluation stages), such as the “ARq” Projects from Guido Sirna and Ronan Weimber Waks, and “Digital Access” from Federico Sasson and Federico Holzer, all 6th-year students from the ICT track, who presented their projects at a cocktail in front of 200 businessmen.

We congratulate them all for the accomplishments achieved!

ICT Expo 2008

On December 17th from 4pm to 9pm, there will be a presentation of the projects developed by 4th, 5th and 6th-year students from the ICT track, ORT Technical School, Belgrano campus (2845 Montañeses St.).

Some of the works you will be able to see are related to video games, virtual reality, websites, mobile devices, and simulation.

The project “Eye Mouse – A Project for a Better Life Quality” will be exhibited. This project developed by Nicolás Amaro and Nicolás Ponieman won the 1st prize at “2008 Technological Innovation” contest organized by the Argentine-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

This project enables people with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) -or those who have a handicap which doesn’t allow them to use the traditional mouse- to operate a computer with the movement of their eyes.

E-Marketing

On July 23rd, there will be a lecture on “E-Marketing” for 6th-year students from the ICT and Business Administration tracks at ORT Belgrano campus.

The conference will focus on the possibilities the web offers for the creation of new business and marketing online, and it will also analyze how the future of advertising will change.

Nicolás Berman (ORT graduate) and Daniel Rabinovich (MercadoLibre.com CTO) will be in charge of the conference.

Congratulations!

We congratulate Joaquín Koifman (6th year), Martín Fixman (5th year) and Nicolás Ponieman (6th year) from the ICT track for representing Argentina -together with Esteban Ordano from an Industrial School in Santa Fe- at the International Olympiads in Informatics, which were held in Egypt.

Sony Employees Took an Exam at ORT Belgrano campus

Last Sunday 6th, April, employees from Sony Style Argentina took their 5th exam at the ICT track of ORT Technical School -Belgrano campus. It was on technology and products manufactured by Sony, such as Digital Imaging, Display, Vaio, Audio, Home Theatre, Audio Car, Cell Phones. The instrument of evaluation was elaborated by the ICT track, together with Sony Product, Marketing and Human Resources Managers, and it was administered and corrected by ORT ICT track.

On this occasion, 80 employees from the Capital City were evaluated on-site, at the ICT laboratories, and 20 employees were evaluated off campus, in Córdoba Province. The activity was organized by the ICT-teachers Juan Ignacio D’Amore and Dario Mischener from the ICT track.

ICT track at Belgrano University

On October 31st and November 1st, ORT (represented by the ICT track) was the only high school which participated in the exhibition of technological projects, together with leading companies, like GameLoft, Calipso, Sia Interactive, and IBM, among others.

On this occasion, 5th and 6th-year students exhibited the Domotics Project, which consists of controlling different home appliances by means of a PC, SMS and/or Bluetooth.

ORT and the TV

The TV program Feria de Ciencias (Science Fair), broadcast on channel 7 from 5 pm to 7 pm, visited ORT Belgrano campus and filmed 5 projects carried out by our students. At this program, the students themselves show their own inventions and talk about them. With a pleasant, didactic tone, the TV broadcast presents valuable knowledge through different segments, where the TV viewers are taught to make their own experiments, trivia questions, and glossary of scientific terms.

CA–ORT Alliance

During this meeting, ORT students will get information on the program and on IT security.

CA (one of the leading companies in IT management software) and ORT Argentina, through its Entrepreneurship Center (“CEO”), present the Academic Alliance Program, which will provide training to high-school students and teachers of the Institution. This program will introduce students to state-of-the-art tools of the IT Security field.

Through this program students will get in contact with the professional environment and will acquire knowledge to stand out in a labor market, which is more and more competitive, like the IT market. This activity targets Electronics, IT and ICT students.

Computer Animation and Digital Photography Workshop


The ICT track of ORT Technical School, Belgrano campus, would like to invite 14 and 15-year-old boys and girls to a workshop on Computer Animation and Digital Photography (Stop Motion Animation and Stereoscopic Photography). During the activity, the participants will learn to produce animated short films and to compose videos and images. The workshop consists of 4 meetings, which will be held on Fridays –starting on October 26th - from 2.30 pm to 4 pm at Belgrano campus (Montañeses 2845), and it will be given by specialized teachers.

Sony Employees Took an Exam at ORT

Missing Children at ORT

The President and Vice President of Missing Children Argentina -a non-profit civil organization- had a talk with ICT students on the activities they organize. During the meeting, they asked students to collaborate in the development of a web system, which enables all the volunteers in Missing Children to have access to the information of lost kids and generate different reports.

At the same time, teachers from the ICT track will train these volunteers on IT tools, and the students will give them technological assistance when they need it.

This meeting took place thanks to the initiative of the CIOs group, a network of 270 Systems Managers from the leading companies of the country who help Missing Children and know about the Solidarity-Learning methodology of ORT Technical School, Belgrano campus.

ORT at Edutic 2007


Within the framework of the 2nd International Congress of Distance Education and Educational Technologies EDUTIC 2007, teachers from both campuses - Guillermo Lutzky, Alan Kharsansky, Martha Semken and Darío Mischener- were chosen to give a speech concerning “Technology and its valuable resources in and outside the real classroom”. They talked about the “experiences in the use of Web 2.0 applications” with junior high-school students, and about “web tools and cellular technology developed to manage projects” of the ICT track. The event took place on August 30th at the Panamericano hotel.

Presentation of the Mouse Emulator Project


Alan Kharsansky, David Vilaseca and Dario Mischener, teachers from the ICT track, Belgrano Campus, presented the Mouse Emulator Project for Disabled People on August 19th at the VII Latin American Congress on Special Educational Computing; the VII Latin American Exhibition of Computing, Telecommunications and Software Companies; and the II International Forum on Adaptive Technology and Technical Support.

ORT at “Científicos, Industria Argentina”

The well-known TV program “Científicos, Industria Argentina”, which is presented by Adrián Paenza on channel 7, broadcast material on the “Mouse Emulator for Disabled People” project. Such project was developed by teachers and students from ORT Information and Communication Technology track, Belgrano campus.

Congratulations!


Joaquín Koifman and Nicolás Ponieman, students from the ICT track (Belgrano campus), participated in the IX Latin American Olympiads of Information Technology and got an award on “Correspondence”. Joaquín obtained a silver medal and Nicolás won a bronze medal. Students from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Portugal and Venezuela took part in the competition.

For a Web without Barriers


On June 12th, 8 students from the ICT track –Belgrano campus- and their teachers participated in the workshop “For a Web without Barriers for Disabled People”, held at the Auditorium of the Honorable House of Representatives of the Nation. The aim of the activity was to inform the audience of website accessibility problems and the methods there are so that the information reaches equally all kind of users.

Training by SONY – Belgrano Campus

The project on the redesign of an intelligent car is advancing. The students from Industrial Design, ICT and Mass Media tracks –ORT Belgrano campus- are working at the DAT (Integral Center of Design, Art and Technology) in order to redesign and incorporate new technologies to the Citroen car model 3CV. The students are guided by the well-known designer José Luis Denari.

Within the framework of this project, 90 students participated in certification training on SONY Xplod line, which was given by Gastón Guedes, Product Manager at SONY Argentina. Andrés Callazos, SONY Engineer who came especially from the USA, also participated and gave them the certificates. On May 17th and 18th, Mr. Callazos trained and certified our students.
