Beth Hatefutsoth Award
ORT Argentina Technical School, Belgrano campus, has been awarded at the International Competition “Shorashim - My Family Story” organized by the Beth Hatefutsoth (The Diaspora Museum). After an exhaustive revision by the jury, composed of members of the Israeli Ministry of Education, authorities in History of the Diaspora Museum, specialists in Education from the Tel Aviv University, and professionals with long-standing experience in related methodologies, it has been decided that a special distinction will be granted to our school for the excellence of the works submitted.
In the last 10 years, Beth Hatefutsoth got thousands of students to explore their Jewish heritage through the search of their own family story. Thanks to this international competition, high-school students from different schools throughout the world have researched their stories, thus discovering their parents’ and grandparents’ stories and also the strong connection they have with the Jewish People.
We would like to congratulate our 6th-year students Ilán Rubín and Diana Gettner from the Design track, 5th-year Michelle Oppel from the Mass Media track and 6th year student Ezequiel Lindenberg from the ICT track for their outstanding performance.

Message from Robert Singer - Director General & CEO, World ORT
Dear Friends,
In this, the 130th year since the founding of ORT, it gives us great pleasure to send greetings to ORT Argentina.
From the outset, ORT gave itself the mission to provide its beneficiaries with the skills and knowledge that would enable them to become self-reliant and independent, living their lives with dignity.
Since 1880, that mission has remained intact in the face of numerous challenges, helping individuals and communities to overcome poverty and deprivation and to begin to experience hope and the prospect of a brighter future.
As we look back we have countless achievements to be proud of. ORT Argentina has always been one of the jewels in the World ORT crown and we are continuously grateful for your efficiency, professionalism, innovation and the wonderful education you provide to so many Jewish students in Argentina.
In honour of ORT’s 130th year, a declaration was created, containing the lines “Truly, we have seen the fulfilment of the hope expressed in the final lines of the founding document: “May God's blessing grace the work we have begun.” May we all continue the fulfilment of this hope for another 130 years and through your ongoing support continue to ameliorate the lives of all our beneficiaries.

ORT at the TIC Americas 2010 Finals
The 3D Housing project is a virtual simulator of big real-estate initiatives which was developed by ORT Belgrano campus School students. The project qualified for the TIC Americas 2010 finals among more than 1200 teams from the continent. The Talent and Innovation Competition will be carried out in Lima, Peru, next June 2010 within the framework of the XI Summit of the Americas.
The team constituted by students from the ICT track (Luciano Bertenasco, Pascual Galliverti, Matías Nisenson and Melanie Babour) and the Business Administration track (Alan Kronik, Cindy Russo y Daiana Ganiewich) worked together to apply for a place at the competition under the guidance of the teacher Clara Rujinsky. The selected project was part of the 5th-year school curriculum.
This is an international competition which gives awards to business plans by young entrepreneurs of up to 35 years old. The contest has been developed by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), a private-sector organization which cooperates with the General Assembly of the Organization of the American States (OAS).
ORT Technical School will represent Argentina in the ‘Technology’ category and the students will introduce their project in English.
“Our School is the only high-school institution which has participated in the contest. It competed with universities, small and medium size enterprises and training companies from the entire continent. We congratulate all the students who took part in this challenging competition. We feel very proud of them and we wish them all the best for the rest of the contest!” –said ORT Argentina Executive Director, Adrián Moscovich.

JAIL ORT 2010 – a fascinating trip
This summer, 40 students from ORT Technical Schools travelled to Israel within the framework of the 'Jail' programme. The students were chosen for their outstanding academic performance and were accompanied by the Jewish Education teachers Silvana Sipicki and Pablo Intebi.
Report written by Silvana Sipicki and Pablo Intebi
From the beginning of the adventure, the students established a valuable, solid group, which enabled them to strengthen their bonds and enjoy the experience of growing with others.
They visited cities, museums and historical places, exchanged experiences with Israeli adolescents and learnt about the everyday life of a country full of contrasts and vitality. By touring around Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the students saw a young State with a millenial history -two characteristics of this country.

Since this years’ phase of the project is coming to an end, we would like to express our gratitude and sincere congratulations to all the team who have been involved. ORT: Open Venue for International Exams Administration
Last Friday 20th, November, the administration of the Cambridge-ESOL international exams started. Our School, for the first time, was the open venue to the community. Approximately 120 ORT School students were involved and other schools sat for the exam in our premises.
ORT Schools prepare their students for the Cambridge-ESOL examinations. After that, they take a computer-based test, since it complies with the technological standards requested.
ORT Schools have incorporated Cambridge-ESOL exams to the English curriculum so as to offer students better training, to promote the study of the language, to facilitate the access to superior education and to motivate students to get more confident in their ability to use English successfully.
The exams cover the different levels of knowledge in English and our students have been prepared all the year round with material specially designed by the schools, and in all the linguistic skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Cultural Exchange with a British Adolescent
Within the framework of the programme “Talking with Natives” –organised by the English Department, David Romain, an adolescent from Great Britain, visited us last Wednesday 4th, November.
“Talking with Natives” is a space where we invite different English-speaking people so as to give our students the chance to listen and practice the language with people with different accents and intonations.
The subject was “Cultural Exchange”, and David told us about his life in England as a kid and as an adolescent, about schools in the UK, what adolescents do during the weekend, etc.
During the meeting, the students were very enthusiastic and asked questions to David, apart from telling him their own experiences.
This type of activities stimulates our students to make an effort to master the English language.
